The Richland County Recreation Commission is seeking bids for construction of Kelly Mill Road Park in the northeastern area of the county.
The $5.9 million project will include four lighted baseball fields and a two-story, 2,400-square-foot concessions building with press boxes and restrooms.
The park also will include a half-mile walking trailing, football and soccer fields, two picnic shelters, a playground system and paved parking.
Bids will be accepted for the following packages: building and site work; landscaping and irrigation; and fencing.
The design of the concessions building calls for concrete slab foundation, concrete block load-bearing walls, masonry veneer, wood stud framing, metal roofing, finishing, electric and HVAC.
A pre-bid conference will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the county’s Adult Activity Center, 7494 Parklane Road.
Bids will be accepted until 2 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Richland County Recreation Center office, 7473 Parklane Road.
John Bowman Architect and LTC Associates, both of Columbia, serve as the project’s architect and engineer. The construction manager is a joint venture of Desa Inc. and Construction Dynamics, both of Columbia.
The project is being financed from a $50 million construction bond that was approved by County Council in 2008.
