The University of South Carolina Alumni Association is seeking a construction manager for its Alumni Center to be built at Senate and Lincoln streets in the Vista.

The request for qualifications was published today in the South Carolina Business Opportunities newsletter of the state Materials Management Office.

The posting says the estimated construction budget for the project is $14 million to $16 million. Preconstruction services are expected to start in early June. Demolition of existing structures and early construction, as well as procurement, are expected to start in the fourth quarter of this year.

Current plans for the Alumni Center call for about 70,000 square feet of office space, meeting rooms, a boardroom, ballroom, dining room and catering kitchen spaces.

An underground connector is to be built beneath Lincoln Street to connect the Alumni Center with the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

Requests for the request for qualifications package should be sent to Belinda Doss at or call 803-401-4219.
