A former executive with American International Group has been appointed to the board of directors for Columbia-based Dovetail Insurance, a supplier of cloud-based insurance product delivery services.

Gretchen Hayes served as an insurance industry executive for AIG for more than 25 years. Most recently, she was chief industry practice officer, where she launched AIG’s global industry segmentation strategies.

She has also served as executive vice president of AIG's client and broker group and president of AIG eBusiness Solutions.

Hayes has extensive executive experience in property and casualty underwriting, insurance technology, data analytics, client and broker relationship management, and U.S. and international sales strategy, according to a news release. She currently serves on the board for EagleEye Analytics and FirstMark Capital's insurance advisory board.

"Gretchen has a deep understanding of the drivers for carriers to offer new insurance products and the challenges they face in bringing them to market quickly," said Steve Francis, CEO of Dovetail Insurance. "Her experience at AIG, particularly her involvement in so many areas of the insurance business, will be a tremendous asset to us as we continue to grow our customer base and the services we offer."

Hayes joins six other Dovetail directors: Larry Wilson, board chairman and partner with FirstMark Capital; Dan Carmichael, former CEO of Ohio Casualty Corp.; Steve Francis, CEO of Dovetail Insurance; Mike Gantt, former group president of Fiserv Inc.; Lawrence Lenihan, founder, CEO and managing director of FirstMark Capital; and Dick Riley, president of Alta Advisors.
