Career expo set for April 11 in Columbia

Graduation Imperative is seeking Midlands employers to participate in its upcoming career and talent expo in April.

The event is open to people seeking part- and full-time employment as well as internships and other career opportunities or paths in the Midlands.

Eight colleges and universities in the greater Columbia area are participating, including the University of South Carolina, Midlands Technical College, Columbia College, Allen University, Benedict College, South University, Columbia International University and Newberry College.

The expo will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 11 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. Employer registration costs $250 for chamber members, $300 for nonmembers and $150 for nonprofit and government agencies.

The Graduation Imperative is led by five partners: the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce, Navigating From Good to Great Foundation, Central Carolina Community Foundation, Columbia Opportunity Resource and the South Carolina Higher Education Foundation. The initiative aims to improve college graduation rates in the Midlands in order to have the workers and talent necessary to meet the demands of today's business industry.
