Todd Avant, CEO of NAI Avant, has been appointed by Columbia City Council to Richland County’s Transportation Oversight Committee.

The 15-member Transportation Penny Advisory Committee will serve as a citizen watchdog group as Richland County executes its $1.07 billion initiative to improve roads, bus service, sidewalks, bike lanes and nature trails.

The improvements will be funded by proceeds from the penny sales tax, which was approved by voters last year.

The committee will make recommendations to the council on the order of projects and keep tabs on progress, making quarterly reports to the public, according to a news release.
