Columbia’s Vista entertainment district is getting a Chipotle Mexican Grill.

Butler Properties & Development is developing the restaurant space at 619 Gervais St. The project is a redevelopment of two properties adjacent to The Backpacker store on Wayne Street.

“The addition of Chipotle will bring another boost of national retail into the Vista and will be a boon for all of downtown Columbia,” Butler Properties President Travis A. Butler said in a news release.

The fast-casual restaurant chain operates more than 1,350 stores across the United States and internationally, including two stores in Columbia: one on Harbison Boulevard and the other in the Trenholm Plaza shopping center on Forest Drive.
