S.C. Chamber of Commerce names new board

The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce announced its new executive committee and board of directors for 2012-13, to be led by new board Chairman Mike Brenan.

The following business leaders will serve on the executive committee:

  • Brenan, the new chamber board chairman, is president of BB&T South Carolina. Brenan has served on the boards of numerous South Carolina businesses, nonprofits and organizations, including the United

    Way of the Midlands, Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics Foundation, South Carolina Independent Colleges & Universities Foundation, Business and Industry Political Education Committee, Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce, South Carolina Bankers Association and Central South Carolina Alliance. He was appointed by the governor to serve on the South Carolina State Board of Education.
  • Pamela Lackey, the chair-elect, is president of AT&T South Carolina. She previously oversaw the company’s public policy strategies in regulatory, legislative and community affairs activities in the state. In 2011, she was appointed to the South Carolina State Ports Authority Board by Gov. Nikki Haley.
  • Jim Reynolds, the past chamber chairman, is CEO of Total Comfort Solutions, a provider of HVAC services in South Carolina. He is also past chairman of the South Carolina Chamber’s Excellence in Education Council.
  • Chris Barras, the chamber board treasurer, is the executive director of the Greenville office of Ernst & Young LLP, specializing in tax services. Barras also specializes in multistate income and franchise taxation, state tax advocacy and tax accounting considerations of state taxation.
  • Ted Speth, the chamber board general counsel, is the managing shareholder of Ogletree Deakins' Columbia office. He practices in the area of employment litigation with an emphasis on complex and class action litigation. Speth is a past chair of the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Navigating from Good to Great Foundation Board.
  • Cliff Bourke serves as in-house counsel for Southeastern Freight Lines Inc., a regional less-than-truckload carrier headquartered in Columbia.
  • Marvin Dickerson is the human resources manager for Alcoa, Mount Holly. He currently chairs the South Carolina Chamber’s human resources committee.
  • Sara Fisher serves as senior executive vice president and COO of NBSC. She was named secretary of the board in April 2008.
  • Mary Anne Jacobs serves as senior director of government relations for Time Warner Cable. She is responsible for monitoring the legislative and regulatory environment and communicating the company’s position on public policy in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Alabama.
  • Josef Kerscher is president of BMW Manufacturing in Spartanburg County, appointed to the position in April 2007. From 2004 to 2006, he was plant manager of Plant Munich. He joined BMW in 1979.
  • Ray Lattimore is the president and CEO of Marketplace Staffing Services Inc., headquartered in Greenville. He currently chairs the South Carolina Chamber’s membership relations committee.
  • John Moloney is senior director of state and local government operations for The Boeing Co. in South Carolina. He currently chairs the South Carolina Chamber’s Legislative Agenda Task Force.
  • Jim Newsome became president and CEO of the South Carolina State Ports Authority in 2009. He was previously president of Hapag-Lloyd (America) Inc.
  • David Pankau serves as president and CEO of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina.
