Orangeburg physician Gary A. Delaney has been installed as president of the Southern Medical Association for 2012-2013.

A native of Kentucky, Delaney received his bachelor’s and medical degrees from the University of Kentucky, and completed his residency in anesthesiology at the University Hospital in Lexington, Ky.

He currently practices anesthesiology at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.

Delaney joined the Birmingham, Ala.-based medical organization in 1982, serving as councilor prior to assuming the role of president.

Established in 1906, the organization is a multispecialty medical association committed to providing physicians with education and information in order to provide quality patient care and lead the discussion on medical care reform.
