City of Columbia seeks applications for transportation panel

The city of Columbia is accepting applications to fill three vacancies on the newly created Richland County Transportation Penny Advisory Committee.

The committee will review, comment and provide recommendations on the transportation penny sales tax to Richland County Council. Members will meet on a quarterly basis and may call special meetings as needed.

All applicants must reside within the city limits. The term of office is five years.

Applications are due no later than Dec. 12.

The three members to be appointed by the city are part of a larger panel under the umbrella of the Richland County Council.

The council approved the creation of the committee at its Sept. 18 meeting, comprising 15 Richland County residents. Appointments for the entire panel must be made by Jan. 13. 

The committee will consist of members appointed by the county, city and town councils of each Richland County jurisdiction.
