The portal will allow the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, also referred to as CMS, to provide its customers access to information, products and services.
"We at CDS (Companion Data Services) are very excited about this award. It's an example of CMS making information accessible to a wide array of customers," Companion Data Services President Lola Jordan said. "This new task order will allow us to showcase our expertise and knowledge of health information technology hosting solutions."
The multiyear task order was completed under CMS' Enterprise Data Center contract, Jordan said. The contract’s value was not announced.
Companion Data Services, a subsidiary of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, provides health information technology services, such as claims processing, programming and outsourcing, to CMS and other government and private entities.
Last year, the company processed almost 800 million Medicare fee-for-service claims, about 65% of the national total.
