Orangeburg-based Cox Industries, a manufacturer of pressure-treated wood products, has launched a new iPhone and iPad application for the outdoor wood and utility pole markets.
The app allows users to compare product and treatment options, and warranties. Users can download reports to help research residential, industrial and fire retardant wood building materials. Storm preparation and recovery checklists are available on the app, as well.
“We have found our customers and their customers are doing far more research than ever, before making a purchase,” said Keith Harris, marketing vice president for Cox. “It became imperative to leverage emerging technology to deliver actionable information, in real time, to both our sales teams and customers.”
Lexington-based MarkITbyte Consulting assisted Cox in deploying the latest search engine optimization ready platforms and open source technologies to create a content management system. The system links all Web, social media, marketing campaigns and employee outreach through a single Web portal.
Cox, a family-owned company founded in 1954, manufactures and distributes pressure-treated outdoor wood products for residential, commercial, industrial and utility applications. The company has 400 employees.
