AllSouth Federal Credit Union is planning a Nov. 14 groundbreaking for its new 60,000-square-foot headquarters at Elmwood Avenue and Gadsden Street in Columbia.

“This new headquarters marks a milestone in AllSouth’s growth,” said Chairman Walter B. Todd Jr. “We are thrilled that AllSouth will be present at the gateway to Columbia and will welcome everyone to our fair city each day.”

The three-story main building is described by the architect, LS3P, as a way to “introduce the gateway to downtown Columbia from I-126.”

About 100 employees, who work in two separate facilities, will relocate to the new facility and another 12 to 15 new jobs will be added, the credit union said.

This new facility will also feature a full-service retail branch with three drive-thru lanes and a drive-up ATM.

J.P. Scurry of Colliers International represented AllSouth in the acquisition of the 3.84-acre site, which is the former location of Noland Plumbing.

LCK Construction Services, an affiliate of Colliers, will provide project management services for the planning, development and construction of the facility.

AllSouth purchased the property in 2010 for around $1.64 million, according to Richland County records.

Chartered in 1960, AllSouth Federal Credit Union is a full service not-for-profit, member-owned, financial cooperative serving more than 99,000 members worldwide. The credit union has grown to more than $635 million in assets, according to its website.
