The Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia is one of 19 Department of Veterans Affairs medical facilities recognized by The Joint Commission as a top performer on key health care quality measures.

“This achievement demonstrates the hard work that each and every VA medical staff member undertakes to serve veterans,” said Eric K. Shinseki, secretary of Veterans Affairs.

While all 152 VA medical facilities are accredited by The Joint Commission, the list recognizes facilities that are top performers based on the organization’s review of care processes that are closely linked to positive patient outcomes.

An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission accredits and certifies more than 19,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States.
