Collins to serve as VP of national board

Columbia attorney Joel Collins has been elected national vice president of the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Collins, who will assume office Jan. 25, is co-founder of Collins & Lacy P.C. He received his undergraduate degree from Clemson University and his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law.

The board is a national association of trial lawyers and judges dedicated to teaching the public about the history and value of the Seventh Amendment, which guarantees citizens the right to trial by jury. The board has 6,800 members in 97 chapters in the United States.

Founded in 1984, Collins & Lacy is a defense litigation firm with offices in Charleston, Columbia, Greenville and Myrtle Beach.
