Oppermann Webbing Inc., a maker of tie-downs and webbing for cargo transportation, today announced plans to expand its current operations in Anderson County.

The $2.1 million investment is expected to generate 20 new jobs. Oppermann Webbing will expand its facility in Piedmont with an additional 38,000 square feet of space for its production operations.

This will add capacity to the weaving area and warehouse space. The company expects the expansion to be completed by mid-December.

“We are seeing an increase in demand for our products and increasing our production space will help us meet our customers’ needs. South Carolina has offered us an excellent business environment and a skilled workforce,” Oppermann Webbing General Manager Roland Hossli said in a news release.

The company plans to begin hiring for the new positions in November. Call the SC Works center in Anderson at 864-226-6273 for information.

Since January 2011, South Carolina has recruited more than $7 billion in capital investment and more than 17,000 jobs in the manufacturing sector, according to the S.C. Department of Commerce.
