The program introduces students to IT through hands-on projects and activities. The program is held once a month at IT-oLogy @ Innovista, 1301 Gervais St.
IT-oLogy estimates that it will be able to reach approximately 6,000 students and parents in a year. The grant also will fund future Cyber Saturday programs in the Charlotte area.
“Time Warner Cable, through its Connect a Million Minds initiative, seeks to inspire the next generation of problem solvers by making young people aware” of opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math, said Charlene H. Keys, area vice president of the cable company.
Time Warner’s decision to become a partner in IT-oLogy “allows us to multiply and magnify our efforts to reach more young students about careers in IT,” said Lonnie Emard, executive director of IT-oLogy. “Cyber Saturday has been a hit and their support enables us to expand the program to more underserved groups.”
