Kohl’s Department Stores has opened a new outlet in Greenwood, making the town the 13th S.C. community that the retailer serves.

The Greenwood store was one of 12 new stores Wisconsin-based Kohl’s opened nationwide on Sept. 26 nationwide. Kohl’s, which now operates 1,146 stores in 49 states, said its expansion into Greenwood created 125 jobs.

Among the store’s features are electronic digital signs that display the price of items and Wi-Fi for customers.

Across the highway, Aspen Dental said it opened today at the newly constructed Shops at Westwood, which will include a Mattress Firm retail store. Greenville-based Carolina Holdings Inc. began construction on the Shops at Westwood in April on the site of the demolished Hollywood Video.

Other retailers in the area include Wal-Mart Supercenter, Lowe’s Home Improvement, Old Navy, Starbucks, Dickinson Theatres, Pier 1 Imports, Walgreens, K-Mart, Office Max, JCPenney, Sears and Belk.
