Prior to joining Amazon, Petta was a vice president with Flextronics’ manufacturing facility in the Columbia Metropolitan Airport industrial park.

Petta, who earned a Lean Six Sigma black belt, also worked for General Electric Medical Systems for 17 years.

In 2010, Petta was recruited by Amazon to launch the e-commerce giant’s first fulfillment center in the Southeast, located at Saxe Gotha Industrial Park, near the interchange of interstates 77 and 26.

Petta will work out of Nephron’s Orlando, Fla., headquarters and manufacturing facility, said Lou Kennedy, CEO and owner.

Nephron, a privately owned manufacturer of generic inhalation solutions, is investing $313 million in its new facility that’s located on a 60-acre parcel in the Saxe Gotha park.

The firm, which expects to employ about 700 people locally, plans to expand its product line to include ophthalmic and injectable medications and provide space for contract manufacturing.
