Accenture, which acquired Duck Creek Technologies a year ago, plans to move its local operations and some 100 employees to downtown Columbia.
The world’s second-largest IT consulting and services firm behind IBM, Accenture said it’s relocating the Columbia office to 1441 Main St., which also houses the S.C. headquarters for Wells Fargo Bank.
The move will be made this fall, Accenture spokeswoman Kate Shenk said. A specific date was not announced.

Ireland-based Accenture has been operating the local unit’s office at an office park near the interchange of Interstate 77 and Farrow Road in northeast Richland County.
“After careful consideration of how we use our current space, we’ve decided to move to the Main Street location,” Shenk said.
“The move to the new office location will meet our business needs based on the type of business we’re in and the way our people work most effectively,” Shenk said.
She noted that the downtown location is “more centrally located to both our employees and our clients. It will also offer relevant technologies that make Accenture an exciting place to work.”
Those technologies, Shenk said, include: Telepresence, a video conferencing system; and Mediascape, a new media service provider that allows users to manage multiple inputs simultaneously while being connected to 3D projection.
“We regularly review our office space to make sure that we are providing a productive work environment while managing our cost and space effectively,” she said.
The new office space will comprise about 20,000 square feet, the same size as Accenture’s present facility in Columbia.
When acquired, Duck Creek, which specialized in property and casualty software, had 370 employees and was headquartered in Bolivar, Mo.
The Columbia office handles sales, marketing and services for the property and casualty management software.
Accenture, which had about $27.5 billion in revenues in 2011, has more than 240,000 employees worldwide.
