She received a master’s degree in public health from the University of South Carolina. In addition to her nonprofit experience, Jacobson has a background in marketing and communications.
“We chose Rebecca because she is an ‘outside of the box’ thinker with strong operational knowledge and skills,” says Julian Dew, board chairman. “With such a small staff, expanding the types of services we offer homeless families requires innovative approaches and creative thinking. We felt that Rebecca was just the right person to move us forward in this way.”
Established in 1979, Family Shelter provides emergency shelter services to homeless children and their families.
