A manufacturer that makes walk-in van bodies is opening a plant in Charleston County, the S.C. Department of Commerce announced today.
Morgan Olson will invest $1 million and create roughly 120 jobs. The Charleston facility will strip and retrofit truck chassis built by Mercedes in Ladson and will upfit cargo vans with modular interiors for FedEx, Ryder and others.
“We are excited about locating our new facility in Charleston County,” said Dave Halladay, vice president of operations at Morgan Olson. “South Carolina offers a business-friendly environment and the skilled workforce we need for our operations.”
The facility will be 100,000 square feet and is located in Palmetto Commerce Park. It will open by Oct. 1 and be producing vehicles by Oct. 22. The company has finished its first round of hiring and more jobs will be available later.
