A global company that outsources call center services is expanding in Dorchester County.

iQor, which has a facility on Dorchester Road, plans to add 90 new positions by the end of the year, the company said in a news release.

Company officials said the availability of a quality workforce was among the reasons it decided to expand in the Lowcountry, where it has operated since 2007.

“With the addition of 90 new positions, we look forward to continued future growth at our Dorchester Road facility,” said iQor President and CEO Norm Merritt.

iQor specializes in providing data-driven customer support, retention and processing services. The company has nearly 14,000 employees in 31 facilities in the U.S., Canada, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, the Philippines and Britain.

“News of an expansion of this size not only illustrates the success that iQor has had as a result of doing business in Dorchester County, but also represents their commitment to the area,” said Dorchester County Council Chairman Larry Hargett.

The new positions at the Dorchester County facility are for call center agents who will handle inbound and outbound customer phone calls.
