The panel is part of the One Book, One Columbia initiative, which invites all Columbia residents to read the same book at the same time and to discuss it with friends and colleagues. This year's selection is Ron Rash's Saints at the River, which explores themes surrounding the protection of scenic rivers.

The panel will include Guy Jones from the River Runner Outdoor Center; Debbie Parker from Conservation Voters of S.C.; Gerrit Jobsis from American Rivers; Dan Cook, editor at Free Times; Taylor Mullen, a Columbia attorney who chairs the Congaree Riverkeeper’s board; and Greg Hilton, a senior projects manager at Engenuity SC.

Mike Dawson, director of The River Alliance, will give a short presentation on the history of area rivers at the beginning of the program.

The event is open to the public.
