Companion P&C names chief underwriting officer

Companion Property & Casualty Insurance Group, a national multi-line insurance company based in Columbia, named Ron Carlson its chief underwriting officer.

Carlson, a native of Minnesota, comes to Companion Property & Casualty from Skyrock Consulting, an insurance consulting firm that Carlson founded in Wayzata, Minn. Previously, Carlson worked for 20 years in the reinsurance brokerage business. For nine years, he was executive vice president and managing director of Willis Re, one of the world's largest reinsurance brokers.

At Companion Property & Casualty, Carlson will be responsible for selecting and pricing property and casualty risks and ensuring prospective and renewal business produce profitable results. He will also direct all activities associated with underwriting, policy processing and insurance risk structuring.

Carlson graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in business.
