The annual award recognizes “women in the industry whose pursuit of excellence, leadership and professional performance has fostered influence that redefines the insurance business and technology landscape,” according to the magazine. Davis, who is executive vice president, chief legal officer and corporate secretary of S.C. BlueCross, was one of six winners announced.
Judges ranked each candidate based on contributions to the institution’s top and bottom lines, job complexity, corporate governance and ethics, and leadership and management skills. The judges were five of the awards program’s 2010 honorees. The 2011 winners will be featured in a special section of the September/October 2011 issue of Insurance Networking News and will be recognized at the Women in Leadership Forum taking place Sept. 18-19 in National Harbor, Md.
Davis is the senior officer responsible for five subsidiaries of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina: Companion Life, Companion Captive Insurance, Companion Property & Casualty Insurance Co., Companion Commercial Insurance Co. and UCI Medical Affiliates.
Senior managers in three divisions also report directly to her, including the law department, government affairs and corporate marketing communications. She currently also serves as acting president of Companion Property & Casualty. Prior to joining BlueCross in 1995, she worked for Lincoln National Corp., a diversified financial insurance company, specializing in mergers and acquisitions.
