A little more than a year after Continental Tire North America announced it would move its corporate headquarters from Charlotte to Indian Land, the company will officially unveil the facility Thursday.

The new facility, which employs about 300 people, is located about 12 miles from its previous facility in North Carolina. The company has invested about $11 million in land and the development of the 75,000-square-foot facility in MacMillan Business Park.

Continental Tire’s parent company, Continental AG, already had a presence in South Carolina with a production facility in Blythewood. The facility manufactures diesel fuel injectors. However, in December, the company announced it would consolidate its manufacturing work into its Newport News, Va., plant and close the plant in Blythewood in 2010. The Blythewood facility employs roughly 440 people.
